James Krenov - The Impractical Cabinetmaker

JAMES KRENOV, author, artist, and teacher, is a consummate craftsman. Born in Siberia, he spent his early years in China and Alaska, before his family settled in Seattle, where he graduated from high school and spent several years building wooden boats. In 1947, he left the United States to travel abroad, finally settling in Sweden. In 1955, after studies at the world-famous Malmsten School, Krenov set up his own workshops and began independent work with wood funiture. He now resides in Fort Bragg, California, and is the director of the Program in Cabinetmaking at the College of the Redwoods. Krenov's uniquely warm, reflective approach to his craft has earned him a special place in the hearts of woodworkers all over the world.
