Due to the angled blade, the cutting depth is increased to almost twice the blade length. As the back of the blade is hollow-ground, the contact surface is reduced,which thus decreases the friction. The multiple grooves on the back of blade are for improving support when working near edges. The handles are made of the premium Oleaster tree hardwood, mounted with sturdy steel ferrules at both ends, and are designed for efficiency when driven by an iron hammer.
